    Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anybody can help me out.. I was in with my dealer just enquiring about upgarding the car to see how much it would cost etc..

Basically was looking at a Honda Civic 1.8 saloon list price 24700 granted some for 22 on carzone. Have a trade in price of 11k against my old car agreeded.

However as a friend of mine recently got a demo model I asked did he have any. He has a 10 demo model available the end of Feb 5000km ish on it. How much below the list price would you expect to get this at?

At the moment he is only offereing 1500 off list price IMO I would expect it to be around 3K or am I way off the mark??

    thanks
    Kev

I'd nearly expect to get €1500 off the list price of the brand new one, let alone a demo! 5,000 kms is a fair bit in one month for a demo, but it happens.
They're an excellent car the Civic saloon, and that is an excellent engine. They are largely ignored by the Irish car buying public, and as a result take heavy depreciation, so something to bear in mind. But the flip side of that is it'll still be running perfectly in 20 years time!

I remember a thread like this coming up recently...
like I said at the time a 10 1.8 petrol Civic will be saleproof in a few year's time, even harder to sell than all those 1.4 new Corollas being registered at the moment.

    Diesel Civic ftw!

    Thanks lads for the responses..

Yeah like the car alright and was thinking 1500 was a bit on the low side.. Saying that I'll make him an offer of a few grand less and see if he bites.. Nothing to lose and as somone on this site said you will never do a sales man so if there is money in for him he will come back to me...

Would love a diesel model but alas none in the civic only option is hybrid, I would have to move to the accord for that and its just that step too far at the moment but it is the plan for the next car...

Why not go back a couple of years and try and find an 08 Accord diesel? At least that would be a lower tax model and being diesel will be much more sought after than a 1.8 petrol Civic when you want to sell it on.

What's wrong with the Civic hatch btw?

You can get the diesel in the Civic hatchback too. They are also more spacious than they look

1500 less COST TO CHANGE for a demo is fair enough.
