You think everywhere is rough. Also if he is living in Askeaton why would he get a taxi all the way to Foynes just to have a few pints?

I socialize in Askeaton the odd time (every couple of months), and while there is definitely a rough element, it's not as bad as people make out (I was only joking with you in the City forum last week).

You don't mention your age profile which would have a big bearing on which pubs to drink in there. There is a yellow pub in the square where most of the younger crowd would drink or if you are older (35-40) try either the pub across from the Arena supermarket (sorry don't know the name) or Kennedys beside the betting office. The clientele in all those pubs would be very friendly and the rougher element tend to not be served in there from what I've seen.

Good and fair description, the pub across the way from the Arena is called Downes's but there is no name over the door.

Hi Pete, Have you tried Copper and Spice in Annacotty near Limerick? its a wonderful indian restaurant, they also do take away, we always try to eat there when passing through Limerick. Also have a look at www.clarefocus.ie, they also have a section for Limerick and have a good listing of whats on in areas if you are looking for things to do outside of pubs, although I dont think they specifically recommend restaurants. Enjoy Askeaton!
