Hello everybody¡ im a 24 yr old guitarist/bassist whos been playing for quite a while (10, 11 years).

    I am looking for :
    guitar
    bass
    vocals
    drums
    keyboard

I can play either guitar or bass.

At the moment im playing with a covers band here in Dublin, and I am eager to start a new one, so im looking for the right musicians (guitar, bass, vocals and drums) to start it: open minded, with a lot of influences as well, and not fearful of listening to bands that apparently have nothing in common, like, lets say, counting crows, the killers, kings of leon, bob dylan, tracy chapman, sufjan stevens, or foo fighters, metallica, alter bridge, muse (All of this are bands and artists that I like a lot)

Im interested in developing a sound based on my influences, which are very broad and mixed, and based more in the sound of certain songs rather than the artist themselves, if that makes any sense: my favorite bands are pink Floyd, pearl jam, the killers, alter bridge, led zeppelin, but the kind of sound that I would like to explore would be something between the wallflowers, counting crows, the fray, snow patrol, fuel, goo goo dolls, incubus, matchbox 20, Coldplay, the cranberries (listen to the beautiful clean guitars in the first two albums, even if you don’t like them) or some songs like no rain from blind melon, belief from john mayer, mr brigthside from the killers, sex on fire from KOL, ,telling stories of tracy chapman, Chicago, widows in paradise from sufjan stevens, the weight from the band, hallelujah from jeff buckley, hey jude from the beatles, space between from dave matthews band, all of these examples of something melodic, well written, and sometimes very very simple, 3, 4 chords, easy to play, but very good and pleasant to hear material.
But im also interested in something like blurry from puddle of mudd, open your eyes from alter bridge, corduroy from pearl jam, etc etc. get the idea? Hahaha I know, im a crazy lad¡

the point that I am trying to make here is that im interested more in the quality of the sound of the band than in virtuosity, people who cares about their guitar/bass tone, simple but effective, good use of pedals, people who valorate the beautiful sound of a clean Stratocaster or telecaster or an acoustic when the song requires it, but also love a good, powerful distorted sound, when the song requires it.
Im looking for people always worried about keep their instrument in tune, not over-use of distortion, a good understanding of the songs, and of course a good knowledge of instruments and amps, not to try to play all the time, showing off their abilities, people who do not abuse of their effects as well, I mean, if you are a guitarist who uses a lot of pedals its ok, as long as you don’t try to keep them on all the time, and specially, people who plays in the right tempo, following the simple rules (start on time, if the songs starts two bars with only the guitar, respect that, and most important, have the understanding of a good overall volume, not trying to drown the other instruments to please yourself)
I consider myself a person who tries to play the songs the most accurate way that they were written, and I appreciate people who does the same, or at least, to make the overall sound of the band great, listening to what every other member is doing, and prefering the sound of the whole song instead of their own instrument to stand out.

I think all of these influences should lead to something very unique, or at least, interesting, and like I mentioned before, im pretty sure that there is people who share moreless the same ideas, the only thing needed to do is to meet each other, and start doing what we love the most: beautiful, stunning music.
So, after explaining all this boring stuff, my idea would be to meet with people that like this kind of things that I previously mentioned, see how it goes, and start as a covers band at the beginning, see hows everything flowing, and hopefully after a few weeks or months start to make our own stuff. But in the meantime, we could do some gigs in pubs playing covers, getting to know each other, and developing a good onstage powerful and meaningful live sound.

So, don’t be shy lads, send me an email with your thoughts about all the previous crap I just wrote, and lets arrange a meeting. Don’t forget, Ireland is the best country for musicians, and this could be the start of something big¡, or at least, we would have a great time playing the music we love. Im waiting for the responses, like I said, I could play either guitar or bass, we will see how it goes and how many people will be adding to this project. See ya soon, and looking forward to meet you¡.

Panchoux, thanks for taking the time to put plenty of information into your post. I like to see that rather than a one line post where users have to go back and forth looking for information.

Djdaforce and DerKaiser, please let the thread stay on-topic. If you have a problem with a post, use the report post button.

Hey, I really like the sound of that, I know exactly what you mean when describing how to play what the song requires instead of virtuosity etc..!

Im a singer songwriter of the same age, trying to develop a unique sound from a wide range of influences also. But unfortunately Im in Galway.

Anyway, best of luck with your search.

ps to echo moderator.... If you think the message is too long, then dont read it or leave sarcastic remarks!
