    Hi Guys
I Would love some advice before I buy a laptop please. I have my desktop which I will be keeping for word processing etc.... So want a laptop as a second computer for me and the kids.

Budget: As little as possible to be honest. what I have seen were approx €400-500

Intended use: Email, internet, photos, kids like you tube and pc games!

Mobility: Not important, prefer larger screen

Warranty: Not interested in extended warranty.

    Operating system: Windows 7

Was looking on Dell website and is a little hard to tell what I need and don't need!
Also, was wondering about the difference between pentium dual-core processor and the new intel core i3?

Sorry for long post but hopefully contains all info needed, I really would appreciate any advice.:)

Dell Inspiron 17 Core i looks decent enough. Big 17" LED-backlit screen and the new i3 processors for €530. The specs on the base model are fine and there's nothing much that needs to be upgraded (considering basic use). Might get a few quid off through the EPP scheme (google it).

Theres a 15" version for the same money but if you want the bigger screen the 17" is nice.

They wouldn't be up to gaming but you can forget about that with a €500 budget anyway.

Asus was the best laptop in 2009.
I'd get a nice Asus, the video is very good for games, but I think Dell is cheaper in Ireland and it is not bad. You are asking advices for a certain model?

    Many thanks for the replies.:)

Voodu Child, good to know that the basic model is fine. When I was looking I wasn't sure if I should take upgrades or not. Thanks;)

Aibreann, I wasn't really asking about any model in particular as am a bit clueless:o Which Asus would you recommend?
