Westbury Dublin Service Charge?

I've stayed here a couple of times midweek just for one night when its reasonably priced. An excellent hotel but I could never understand how they get away with putting on the 12.5% service charge on to your bill. Its something akin to a Ryanair hidden extra. Everyone pays it so why not include it in the quoted price. Or…

the abbeyglen hotel in Clifden do this also.

They add a charge to every tea coffee and meal as well. they call it a service charge but the person who serves your tea only gets about 10 cents of that. the hotel get share.

I was in China and had some hotels do it.

No matter if you took something from the minibar or bought something from the bar or restaurant everything had the same surcharge
