Just a quick question re: job seekers allowance. Myself and my girlfriend live together in a 1-bed rented flat. She has been out of work for some time, and up until recently has been claiming the JSB. The benefit ran out and she's now looking to apply for the allowance, for which we need to go through the means test.

I work full time, and earn a pretty decent wage. I'm wondering to what extent my earnings are taken into account in the means test, since we are not married. Is it possible that she will be denied the allownace altogether on the basis of my earnings.

    Thanks,
    Caoimhin

Yes,she can kiss her last entitlements good bye.
Social have gotten very strict about cohabiting couples.
If you were two males or two females cohabiting it would be fine though.

    There's a nice Excel calc here -- http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=61508425&postcount=7

Helps as a guide to check herself what she might get taking your wages into account.
