I was wondering if anyone here can add to my thoughts.

I was informed it may be possible for a person to imagine a physical feeling like burning or pain in association with a device that isnt causing said burning or pain.
Can anyone throw some light on this subject of imagination and pain or hot sensations.
Also if this is possible what techniques are used to undo this imaginary feeling.
The only things i can come up with to say this is possible would be hypnosis of some kind.
Or is some phobia involved in this type of situation?

Hope i made a clear enough post to start.

I'd say TMS would be of interest to you, if you haven't come across it before.

Thanks for the links. It is interesting and may explain some effects from mobiles.
The actual device's i was referring to is mobile phones.
But id like to look at it from a psychological perspective.
Is it possible a person can think they have pain linked to an object without hypnosis?

    Right, I misunderstood.

I suppose it's possible that somehting like that could happen with conditioning. A neutral stimulus is repeatedly paired with a stimulus that provokes an automatic unconditioned response (such as pain), until the neutral stimulus (such as a phone) provokes the same response. Wikipedia might explain it better than I have. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_conditioning

Although I think it's very unlikely that something like that could occur in the course of everyday life.
