Returning to work after Maternity leave

    Hi all,

I'm due to return to work in a few months after my maternity leave and I am now on 4 months unpaid leave to spend the extra time with my child. Before I took maternity leave, I worked a 5 day week and earned approx €530 per week after deductions and taxes. My dilemma at the moment is that I don't want to return to a full 5 day week because I know after paying a childminder, I would be left with not much and I would rather work part-time now that I have a child.

Soif I worked part-time - either a 2 or 3 day week, I'm wondering would I be better off working 2 or 3 days...Or maybe not to work at all and have my tax credits transferred to my husband. Does anybody know which option would be financially feasible? I have spoken to revenue before and they were a bit vague as to what my options were....

Is anybody in a similar situation or has anybody knowledge of this area?

    Thanking you all in advance!
    Curly
