    Hi All,

So sorry if this is a repost, but maybe one or two of you can point me in the right direction. I'm a total newbie to cycling / MTB. Sick and tired of just sittin around the weekend or only going to the gym for my bit of exercise, so I picked up Lapierre Tecnic 400 at the weekend, to get into cycling and MTB. My only problem is I haven't a clue where to be going. Living in Tallaght. Been on the websites and all the trails I have found are way too far away, Balinastoe seems to be the only one around. Is there anything else a little more local?

    Thanks,
    Jay.

I'm a keen MTB cyclists myself i.e. I'm keen to give it a go sometime :D.

I'd be interested to see how you get on with the above bike Jay, as it's the kind of budget I had in mind for a MTB. I may be back to you in a few months for an update!

Thanks for the above link Davey, as like Jay, I wouldn't have a clue where to start either.

A lot of the trails are unofficial and can't be posted online. Your best bet is to come along to one of the beginner spins run by the clubs. I only started before christmas but having a great time. Apart from imbrc two other major clubs in the dublin area are epicmtb.com and madmtb.com . They both run intro spins aswell so go along to them all get a feel for the club and join up.

I won't be able to make this spin but like I said I'll watch out for the next, when you say improve handling skills do you mean help with taking off the stabilisers... hahaha.

I seen on you tube the last spin ya's had coming down the hill, looks like great fun.

Thanks, I'll check out the website now. Have a helmet, nothing special, but I'd imagine it'll do the job.
