I'm shocked with the recent realisation that the viewing figures for Fair City average between 500,000 and 600,000.

Time was I believed this to be a fixation of few.
Unfortunatly this is no longer the case, it's a growing problem.

As many as one out of every seven in the country are now hooked.
People you know, people I probably know.

It could be anyone - an Uncle, a family friend, the local priest, even somebody respected.

I hate soaps. I hate watching miserable people live their miserable lives.

    Moved from After Hours.

I do watch it, if only to see Leo Dowling and his acting hands.

Had a cracking Sunday dinner the the grannies last, ummm...Sunday :o Anyway, we were all settled in the living room, lazing in front of the fire, sipping on wine and this $hite came on RTE1. The room was 3/4 filled with women so it stayed on.

I was actually glad in one respect as me and my uncle had a hilarious discussion about how the show had not only NOT moved ahead with the times in terms of acting and production value, it has taken a nose dive backways into the realms of El Dorado.

I could not believe the acoustics in the studio...you could barely hear the 'actors' from the echo of the studio they were in.

I think they actively seek the worst 'actors' in the land for the show, but yet above this and above any sort of coherent storyline it pulls in the viewers in their droves.

I do have all night but I'll stop now.

I would think that so many people watch it because it an soap that deals with everyday situations which many are unique to ireland.
