Selling a 3G Modem

    Hi Folks,

I see 3G modems from time to time on adverts and I have a question if you don't mind. About a year ago when myself and the lady moved house I had no UPC option open to me so signed up for o2 3G on a contract. It was fine but eventually UPC came to my area and I cancelled the contract.

I'd like to sell the modem on adverts but I'm curious if there's anything I need to do first? I know I need to remove the sim before I sell it but is there anything else I need to do, to be 'safe' so to speak. Silly question perhaps but I'd just like to be sure.

Is it OK to simply sell the modem itself and not include the documentation that came with it?

you'll be fine just selling the modem. all the drivers required to install it are on it and it'll install itself when they plug it in generally.

just make sure you note that it's locked to o2 so they know it'll only work with an o2 sim. you could request an unlock code from o2 as well to help you with selling it.

Ah many thanks Random, I'm much obliged. In requesting an unlock code do I have to have spent a certain amount? I used it for perhaps six months at a cost of €19.99 per month.

if you're on billpay then they should provide the unlock handy enough. it might take a week or two for them to come back to you.
