    Hi Guys

Im planning on going to NYC in September for a holiday, I have an old passport, does that matter or should I get a new one???

It expires in 2012 (Sorry if that is a really stupid question but I would appreciate an answer)

    Thanks

There was a post on the AAM Travel forum a couple of days ago that might interest you. A couple on their honeymoon were denied boarding because one of their passports was a bit worn and damaged - and US immigration would not accept such passports.

The 2012 expiry date is fine. But if your passport, which must be 8 years old by now, is worn/damaged/torn/has corners coming apart, you definitely want to have it renewed before flying to the US.

Once you have the >>>>name>>>number>>>stuff>>> section along the bottom of the picture page then it is a machine readable one, best to get it renewed if it's getting really tatty though.

Last year when I was going to the states I had just gotten a new passport to travel, and because the passport looked all new and clean they brought me in to the back while they checked the passport.....took 10 mins.....but just to be wise to it.

You were not backroomed for having a new passport that I can assure you of.
