There was talk before xmas of a Saab owners meet/drive/y'know after Christmas. Now that the weather is better and Saab isn't going to be killed off after all, is anyone interested in meeting some Sunday in March?

Someone mentioned a non-Dublin meeting point so i thought Portlaoise might be good. The last time I stopped in this place there were a few Honda people meeting up to exchange fluids - it has loads of parking etc.

PS: I'm not trying to usurp the organisation of these things i just thought I'd bring it up.

When are you free to meet (all Sundays)? 6 votes

PS: you can select as many of the four dates as you like - if you're available for all four, so much the better.

I'd love to get together with a few of the lads. What about seeing where most people are coming from and then decide on a meeting point. Maybe if everybody who was interested in going just posted where they had to travel from we could find a spot to get together! What do you think mumblin deaf ro?

9 votes in the poll for a date so far plus myself ( I haven't picked a date yet :) ) gives us 10 potential cars going. If anybody has e-mail address for the lads from previous get togethers can thy give them a shout.

I might be sticking my nose in here but I've been thinking of hosting classic car meets.
I've a nice little place with a coffee shop and plenty of parking space just 5 minutes from the N7 and less then 15 minutes from the M50. Also two minutes from a well known classic Saab mechanic based in Newcastle.

Anyway as it's a trial run tea and coffee will be free ... you can bring your own sandwiches.

    What do you think?

    Saab Ed...Just found this thread...
    What was the outcome?
Would need a few weeks notice (I usually get lost coming up from the South !!!)

    Quick parts update...
As a trial, I have just fitted new RHD head lamp reflectors for the post 1987 head lamps (sloping front). They align perfectly and now I can see the road! A huge improvement in visibility and the car looks great.

If any owner wishes, I could give a quick demonstration with tips of how to remove and exchange the reflector.

    Cheers

The only downside is that the new reflectors show up a tired chrome grill !!!

There wasn't a strong response to this so will we try again for april? The brighter evenings might make it a better bet?

I'll be along but I suspect the old lady will be off the road till the new year. Hasnt moved since last Christmas and she needs a new cat , window motor on the passenger side , the radio and rear fogs have stopped working and that before I mention that I set her on fire.

Long story but I fitted a heater valve and took out the whole dash board. Put it all back together and then washed everything down. Dont know if it was the water under the bonnet or a wrong wire put back in the wrong place but smoke came out from behind the dash. Will have to be investigated before an NCT.

Anyway all the money that needs spending along with the kids going back to school and a few other bits around the house , I think I'll have to wait till the new year big commision cheques arrive in before I can justify the spend :(

Let me know where and when , will be good to se everybody again :)

    Hi SAABs,

I was wondering if anybody here could give me some advice.? I have a 2003 9-3 arc model, it says 1.8t on the back but may be a 2.0 (as they charge me 2ltr tax). As I am going to be holding onto this car for awhile (which I don't mind at all) I want to look after it well.
    1. Which spark plugs should I buy? Should I get performance plugs?
    2. Has anyone here ever had the ecu remapped?
    3. What type of engine has it? (trionic 7/8 etc)?
    4. Blow off valve y/n?
    5. Any performance parts garage in Ireland for Saabs?

    Thanks j
