    Hey,

I'm going to Australia for 2 weeks. I've been before on holidays but it's been a few years and I can't remember if I got a holiday visa the last time. My sister lives there and she said I don't need one, but the website I booked my flights with said I need one, and it costs €10. Obviously I don't mind paying if if I have to, but is it necessary?

Ya you do, we were there in oct for 3 wks, ive dual citizenship so didnt need one but my kids are irish only and i had to get it for them. I did it on line think it was called an eta. Think it was only about a tenner as you say.

Yep, it's the Electronic Travel Authority and your travel agent generally sorts it for you. Some charge, some don't but a tenner isn't bad. You'll get a printout of it to keep with your passport and on arrival your passport number is checked against their database.

    Have a good trip.

Just organised it. After doing some research, I found out that visitors from most EU countries get a free Visa called an eVisitor. I contacted my travel agent earlier and they were charging me for it, i was about to pay but I didn't have my passport details on me. Luckily I found this out before ringing them back!

Indeed - EU passport holders only need the eVisitor authorisation. It's free and can be done online at http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/evisitor/
