Is this work worth doing?

    Hi,

I have a 2003 1.6 156. Great car I love it but it needs a few jobs now. The biggest is the synchro on 3rd. Crunches at anything above 3.5k or any quick gear change.

Second is repainting the rear bumper after someone backed into me.

My question really is is it worth spending the roughly €1k it would cost to do this work. The car is still perfectly drivable with the gearbox as it is but other than that the car is mint. Or is it just a waste and should I drive on for another 6 months and try and change. I would like something with a bigger engine at some stage.

    Thanks

You know you can replace the individual syncro instead of putting a whole new reconditioned gearbox into it...Just incase your being told you need a new gearbox when you actually don't.

The rear bumper if it's met paint can be expensive however you could do the paint job yourself and save alot of money. I'd do it myself all day long...

Ya but the box still has to come out, be opened and put back together. Prob put a new clutch on too if I was taking out the box. I wouldn't be able to do either myself.

I would put the money it , otherwise the car is scrap.

Well it still perfectly drivable but almost 100% unsaleable.

I'd get it fixed.. I had a 156 and it was a good enough car.
