converting a passenger model that's already registered in Ireland as a passenger isn't as involving as converting one that's coming straight from abroad or is a new vehicle.

As far as I know, there isn't a requirement to have the windows blacked out at all. Also welding over the seatbelt mounts isn't required.

I think you're just doing a change of tax class. I don't think Revenue actually get involved at all.

    ring the local doe centre
the last time i tried they said to weld over the seatbelt holes

you dont need a garage to do the work, drive on and get ripping

    how old is the landcruiser?

Yeah, DoE testers are supposed to check that if it has been converted from a passenger to a commercial that all the yada yada bla bla bla.

Of course all testers do this.

Remove rear seats and seatbelts and weld over the mounting points, get the vehicle weighed and bring it for a DOE test, the tester inspects the welds, fills out a form with the vehicle details on it and noting that all mounting points have been destroyed and returns this form to Testing autorised officers(tax office)

    yes as said above me

destruction of the mounting points, that was the technical bit i couldnt think of

anyway as i said, bring the vehicle to the doe centre before you do anything, ask them what should be done, nod several times and tell them you will get the job done

they dont care who does it as long as it is done properly

what year is it,i have a toyota fetish

Ill take it to DOE and see what story is

But you reckon all i have to do it weld over seatbelt plates?

I thought there was some loophole with those amazons that they create a box under the floor as extra storage and then the loadspace combined is enough to class as commercial, leaving the seats in?
Ill find out more as someone local here has a 96 one done this way.

corriganalan, that was a loophole under the old crewcab legislation where they used a volume based assessment. they closed that loophole around 2005 or 2006 so now it's based on cargo bay length.
Common cars that took advantage of this were the Kia Sedona and Toyota VX.
