I was going to, but theres too many rpgs coming out at the mo, theres, White Knight, Star ocean, Final Fantasy and the upcoming expansion of Dragon Age. Ill be getting them all but Star Ocean will be first then ff13 and sometime after that White Knight. All great games

I'll be picking this and Heavy Rain up with the last of the GameStop credit I have left from trading in my old PS3. I'm really looking forward to White Knight Chronicles as I love Level 5 and the Dark Cloud series (in fact I'm playing Dark Cloud at the moment). I'll be waiting for Star Ocean to hit the bargain bin before I pick it up, as much as I love the Star Ocean series I haven't heard good things about it. The online play in WKC is a plus for me too and I think that the OH will dig that as well, seeing as she's finishing Dragon Age as I type this.

Was going to pick this up however it's starting become synonymous with terribble reviews. IGN gave it a 5.1 :'( Think i'll just wait for FFXIII.

The Reviewers posted there reviews when the online mode was only up for 4-6 hours lol, IGN especially seemed to just bash the game... Check out gametrailers review for a good review of the game and decide if ya want it from that

What's your PSN? Would you like to play some guild quests together sometime?

Have to say, when I first started the game I found the combat simplistic and boring. However, once you level up a bit and unlock more combo's, the combat system becomes a lot more interesting. I like that magic use is a bit more strategic in that your spells can be interrupted - I'm wondering can I interrupt enemy spell casting? The 2 boss battles I've been in so far were pretty good too. The story and characters are very Level 5, which is neither a complement or an insult - just simple and charming which was what I was expecting. I love the music so far too. The voice acting doesn't suck either, that's always a plus.

furry you traded an unfinished Heavy Rain for this metacritically disclaimed 65 did you not?! well.. you'll get more actual gameplay out of it thats for sure. however, whether its worth your while.. ;)

Yep, just couldn't stomach Heavy Rain anymore. For all of David Cage's high ideals about creating a new way of naration and telling stories, he's still stuck in late 90s game design.

well.. you couldn't have waited til BC2 or FFXIII?!

to be honest the 'choice' descriptions that float around you in a typical heavy rain scenario are blunt to say the least. i hate accidentally choosing the one that ends a given scenario too soon, when there were remaining questions to be asked. and it really is just one big FMV sequence with the only kind of input / interaction that will permit

How is that in any way true with the amount of different endings that the game has? Anyways, WKC is a good game, I just think that a lot of critics don't have time for these traditional JRPGs anymore. They want everything to be like Mass Effect 2 or Fallout 3.

After playing some more of this I'm enjoying the combat a lot more. It's when you're fighting the more difficult giant enemies (like troll dudes) that strategy comes into play a bit more.

How is that in no way true?! now i'm curious to see how outcomes alternate other than the endings. may be my only my 2nd ever 2nd playthrough.. hopefully unlocking trophies via another 'route' is not the only reward - and a different end sequence.

Well without spoilering anything for you, there are many things that can happen to Ethan. Heh, it's funny how much Heavy Rain is taking over other threads!

Just had a really fun quest there, people who play WKC are nice. Haven't come across anyone else with a mic yet though.

i was thinking on a 2nd walkthrough, not only will i aim for the alternate outcome, but make use of this L1 alt. camera view i've not really been been utilizing. then i'll get a different angle for sure :o

Heavy Rain becomes recurring pain. carry on..

I was going to pick up WKC while I wait for FFXIII but the general in store price put me off. I think I'll just wait for it to drop down a bit.

    Whats the multiplayer like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭GothPunk

Story wise, it's kind of like Zelda mixed with FFIX. So I'm talking a charming story, albeit a little childish, which takes dark turns here and there.

The battle system is a little boring at times, particularly at the start when you don't have many combo's. Imagine the battle system as a mix between FFXII and Rogue Galaxy. Where it shines is when you are fighting a giant troll creature who towers over you as you try in vain to make it stagger. The single player is too easy at times but the multiplayer quests give much more of a challenge.

The online is a lot of fun I think, it's very like Monster Hunter in that you go to a guild hall and take missions there and can fulfill the conditions by yourself or with friends/randoms. You make an avatar at the start of the single player campaign which is who you play as in multiplayer. This can make the single player incredibly easy though as the avatar can level up by playing online so if you're worried about making the single player too easy you can just swap out your avatar for another character.

In comparison to FFXIII, I think FFXIII has the better story, battle system and music. Whilst FFXIII is trying something new for a JRPG, WKC isn't afraid to rehash old ideas with a HD coat of paint and some imaginative locales.

Did I mention you get to transform into a giant robot knight and battle dragons?
