    Hey folks

I have just moved my thai boxing gym to tallaght. I was considering doing a leaflet drop in the area say about 10,000 leaftlets from knocklyon right across to clondalkin right through Tallaght.

Does anyone know if leaflets drop work and is it worth the money doing it.

Also I stuck an ad in the tallaght echo but didnt get a great response to it, would I be better off going around sticking up posters in local shops/pubs and chippers, or can any one suggest a way of promoting the thai gym that will get people in the door.

    thanks paddy

Posters in take-aways sound good. I always read them even if I have no interest. Also the people who use the take-away might be your target market.

    Hi
    Good luck with new gym

Its a good time 2b starting in a new area-most people still in that new year try something new mode.

Your first step probably look at basic information need to cover to generate interest in the club:
Define thai boxing-what makes it different from other types?
Why is your class different to other classes on?
Why should somebody choose class with you? What makes it unique?
    Is it good value?
Do they get opportunity to actually fight in tournament setting?
    What facilities you offer?
Begineers or different levels catered for?
    etc

Also you could focus on health aspect get fit,new challenge, ability to defend yourself, class meet new people, fighting element etc

Regarding leaflets tend to get alot around Tallaght area and most tend to end up binned instantly as getting so many.

Like previous post anywhere you have a kind of cative audience probably good start so posters in-chippers,doctors waiting rooms, supermarket notice boards, community centres etc

Do you have a specific target market in mind-are you solely targeting males 20-30? Or is it any age group?Do you cater for children?

You could mention to any members at the class already-that you want club to develop ,that to work need more members and ask them to mention to anybody they know who might be interested-maybe with an incentive like first night half price etc

Hope helps-PM me if you like!

This is great, Id sit down and answer all these questions.
Id print this off and sit down with a pencil and scribble out some answers.
Love the chipper window idea, this seems spot on

    Fair play and good luck

letterdrops are a waste of time. you have 30 seconds from letterbox to bin to engage the audience. You have to have a 'hook' or a monetary value incuded on the flyer to draw them in..
    Want to try something new?
    Blah blah blah
Present this flyer for FREE session (value 100 euro)
    You get the drift:)

It is definetely worth a shot but you'll need to work on enticing the householder. A simple flyer with no freebie will be like the rest of the braindead tradesman flyers that come in the door.

The image of thai boxing is likely to turn off most parents who would ultimately be paying for their kids to do this. I imagine this is your target audience.

You need a self defence angle, free trial classes with dates i.e mark 10 dates, once a month, that should work

allhomes claim to do mail drops quite cheap

hiya chupasart, I don't personally know of anyone who has found leaflet dropping to be a cost-effective or worth-while form of advertising, as the above comments mention.. straight to the bin. I think something that could be very worth while for you would be Facebook advertising as it engages with young and old nowadays and similar to GoogleAdwords you can choose a target audience (in your case the Dublin area).
Another important thing to remember is that you can never sell a service, you can only sell its benefits..how will your thai boxing gym help people?? You've got to think about that when drawing up posters or ad campaigns.
    Hope this helps a bit

    Facebook advertising +1

I think you'd get more results than a leaflet drop.

The Facebook ad can link to your website and allow you to see what hits you're getting.

I posted 500 leaflets through doors in my town, in an area that might use my service and got exactly zero replies. Two months of newspaper ads got me four jobs. Makes you wonder if there is anyone spending money nowa days.:( Go the chipper rout.

    Here's my pennys worth...

Letterdrops can work.. if it's done cleverly...

    1) Would u be better knocking and just asking ? Not door to door sales but just making them aware..

    2) Papers- Bit too broad.. better off niche marketing, maybe try around local swimming pools, football clubs.. most soccer teams are finisdhing up now and I think it's a great thing to keep people fit..

Give a discount to clubs etc..

    OR,

and this is a bit mad.. not sure of costing, get the flyers cut into the shape of a thai boxer! or give free thai boxing shorts with to everyone that brings the flyer with them...
