Single Garda Handling Report?

First off this is just a question and I'm not dissing anyone. To be fair the Garda I delete with in this situation was very polite and friendly.

Anyway I reported something recently and went into my local station to make a statement. All went well but the Garda was to follow up by making a call and stated that he would do it that day and he was due to take leave.

That was a few weeks ago and the call was never put it mean the situation hasnt progressed. The Garda is back now but working nights so isnt in a position to deal with it still. Now I've rang and rang and asked if another officer can handle it but told that I've to deal with the original officer.

Is this normal? Its a serious situation for me but I've to wait due to a lack of action, and unfortunate rostering.

    :(

My advice is to contact the Sergeant in charge of the unit the Garda is on. He is responsible for monitoring and reviewing his Gardai's work.

If you say he is on nights his Sergeant will be working at 10pm tonight.

He has all the time in the world to talk to you, unlike the Garda who will probably be gone out of the staiton by 10:10pm

Still unhappy after talking to his Sergeant, try contacting the Superintendent.

Still not happy, try the GSOC.

Cheers for that, I rang last night and just missed him. So if it happens again tonight I'll ask for the Sergeant. Not that I'm complaining, as I said the initial dealings were pleasant in an unpleasant situation.

Keep it in mind that incidents take time to investigate report on and to finalise(court or caution ect) this process can take months on even the most basic matters.

Its an unusual situation and the first thing that needs to be down is a call put in. I know the people who are to be called and it hasnt been placed. The Garda himself said that was the first step.

Without knowing the details I cant say what the first step is but the Garda may have made several attempts to contact these persons unbeknown to you. Best to speak to him or his sgt when you get the chance.
