I was talking to an Irish supplier today about p.p.e. (personal protection equipment) and felt like a bit of an innocent when he told me about taser "proof" jackets as well as stab resistant all in the one garment.
He said he has sold a good few to Scotland. With items like this about or needed I wonder could they restrict there sale to emergency services, p.d.f., money in transit guys etc.
Although it wouldn't be water tight idea anything might be better than having them too easy to get. Restrict their sale so criminals cant easily avail of them?

Not much call for it yet, for either emergency services or criminals yet I would imagine.

It's supposedly defensive gear, so I don't think there is any legislation to cover it. Is there any for kevlar jackets, riot gear etc?

Agreed but watch how opinions will change after tasers are used by criminals in the future. They're on the black market in Spain so a new dimension to the "stick up" will arrive. Just my opinion and hope I'm wrong in this matter..

They are very easy to obtain. Anyone with an internet connection and a credit card can get one.

I would not be to concerned if a criminal does use one against police they will simply keep getting shot till they no longer pose a threat.

If one gangster uses one to protect himself from another gangster mores the better. It costs the state a lot when these eejits kill each other.

The taser debate is still open really I still believe they require a option behind them especially in ireland where its heavy clothing country and chest pockets.

Here in Victoria a ballistic vest is a restricted item unless you have a prohibited weapons licence.

Given that Taser is only available to the ERU & RSU, those options are available.

I could not agree more. Hence anyone using a Taser proof jacket will succeed in getting themselves shot and quite possibly more than once or twice.
