    Hiya.

A couple of weeks ago my Samsung laptop was acting the bollix and not starting up.

Anyways, I did a full restore and now the sound is ****e. (It's hard to explain how crap properly) It's a wee bit distorted, kinda sounds like everythings just of much much lower quality and just plain ain't right.

I can't edit audio anymore because the sound's not right.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Have you installed the latest sound drivers? I've heard of similar happening on older dells, and a driver update rectified it. It's worth a shot.

Nice one. I'll give that a go.

...em... any idea where one might easily and cheaply come across one?

Well it's software, which should be free to download. I presume Samsung have a site where drivers can be downloaded??? What's the model number of the laptop?

    It's a Samsung R60

It's a wee bit worn away I think it says Model: NP - R60Y
    If that's any use.

How about setup.exe? That's usually promising.

I just downloaded the XP driver there, and there is indeed a setup.exe
Click on that and follow the steps.

if you dropped the laptop recently could be a mechanical problem too.

No it was as soon as I restored it, the sound went all bad.

I clicked on the setup.exe and a rectangle box came up and all it said was "Installation will take a few minutes" then would disappear 2 minutes later.

Earlier I said it was an R60. It's an R60plus. would that make a difference?
