Hey, I am looking to get my first car. My mother finally got tired of me using hers ha and now I have to bight the bullet even though I’m not financially in the best position. So my spec. is probably above my means but I may as well try.

The spec. I am looking for is:
    Year: 2002-2005,
    Fuel: Diesel,
    Body: Saloon,
    Engine Size: max. 2.0lt,
    Mileage: max. 60,000,
    Transmission: Manual.
Preferable Cars: Audi A4, Mazda6, Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Toyota Rav4.

Here is the punch line......... the max. I have to spend is 7,000euro. I know it might be a long shot but if anybody has or knows of similar spec cars let me know.
    :confused::confused:

dont buy a Mazda6 diesel anyway.

Also, Accord diesels are taxed as 2.3

Passat or Octavia worth considering as cheaper alternative to Audi.

Yeah I am not a lover at all of the Passat... driven a few VW's and none are nice to drive.

I like the octavia but worry about reliability.... any experience with them?

Octavia is the same engine as the Audi, Seat and VW.

    The engines are into self-mutilation.

Fair enough, I'm not a fan of any of the VAG cars really either...
Unfortunately the penalty with the extra power, efficiency etc and reduced noise from modern diesels comes at the price of some expensive parts that can fail. Do get anything your considering professionally checked by a good mechanic...

I know very little on diesel but:
Mazda6 2.0 diesel can eat itself in a certain percentage of cases.
High pressure fuel pumps, and dual mass flywheels can give trouble on other manufacturers diesel engines..
Look up honestjohn.co.uk for common probs on any model you are considering...

Your mileage target may be a bit optimistic for a diesel!
