Airsoft teams - Who, What, Where and When

    Yo,

So, people seem to be talking about teams more and more, and where they can go to play (and indeed, not play) with teams, and where there'll be a certain play style.

So, what do people think of using a thread like this one to let everyone know where certain teams will be playing this weekend? That way if someone's trying to explicitly play with a certain team, they can do so (or teams can arrange to play together).

I originally thought it'd be a good idea to have a sub-forum where individual teas can have a thread. But what do people think of doing this all in one thread as a trial?

I know a lot of teams have their own forums, but it might be a good idea to drop a post on this thread once you've finalised a game day.

To start off, The Hawks will be playing at MAC this sunday :-)

    *Cough cough* teams thread ->

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055221876

    ;)

It was mainly to use as announcements, but I guess we can have it for general discussion to.

I think it might be useful to have a separate "where we'll be" thread though, since the teams thread seems to be for anouncements/recruitment messages.

If this thread takes off it might attract 5-10 teams a week posting where they'll be. I'd hate for once-off anouncements and recruitment to get lost in there.

Very good idea, it would help teams coordinate where to go based on where other teams are going and may help build the competitive side of things also.

    Great idea Davey boy!

    Good point actually.

Well I guess that's what we'll do for the moment, use this thread to post that kind of information. A teams sub forum would be great but it's a much bigger thing to try and create and work out than just a thread. We can have a look into that further though. The subject has come up in the past before.

But anyway, anyone suggest a good thread title I can rename it to?

I was thinking more along the lines of -

'Super duper fight team mega force locations of extreme ultra action'

But I guess something like the above will have to do.

You could have squeezed a 'brappage'' in there, as well as a few 'immenses'.

It would also be nice to organise logistics when travelling to events together.

I know a few peeps where scoping our forum for berget logistics, and with the upcoming wales trip and teams already in talks, it might prove pretty handy to have ( although granted a thread of its own will appear.)

    But yeah, solid idea

Meh, for all the fancy terminology, it would probably be a battle, had out with some playing cards and some form of futuristic dice, with o1s1n being the gamesmaster, wearing some sort of card dispenser on his left arm, (mask is optional)

    :D

    Consider yourself formally uninvited

This is probably a tick question but im new so maybe ill get away with it. If a team is going somewhere does that mean that non-team members can't go there on the same day?

No, unless its a team day only. Most of the time you can turn up at a site and play.

Ok cool. from the looks of this thread people have different views on teams so im assuming your better off getting your name up there before approaching a team?

Is there any advantage to being on a team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

As a player that isnt in a team...

There are no disadvantages... look at it that way... I say get into the sport, and get used to it, and get to know it, then look at joining the teams saga ;)

This is not necessarily an Airsoft perspective, but:

    - To be a good player, of any game, you need to understand the rules, and build up some experience. Learn how things are on paper, and how they are in practice. Figure out your strengths, and your weaknesses, and try to improve.

    - To be a team player, you need to not only know the rules, your strengths, and your weaknesses, but you also need to know everyone elses. Trusting each other, working together and covering one another is essential. Again, this is not purely airsoft related...you can be the best player in the world, and still be a dead weight on a team because you're not a 'Team Player'. On that same note, some of the best teams in the world, again not necessarily in airsoft, are not strictly made up of the best players.

There are multiple threads talking about teams already, can people please use those threads? This isn't why I started this thread.

Any other teams want to let us know where they're playing this week?
