Let go and paid my "back week" by post dated cheque

Well I was let go last week and got my wages as normal on Friday. I had to go back to collect my P45 and a cheque for my back week.

They didnt pay us for two weeks over Christmas and I got no proper wages until the new year. They even stiffed me on allowances for holiday pay on the bank hols (I only got a percentage).

So all in all a tough Xmas! Anyway New Year let go and they have given me a post dated cheque for my back week. I only copped it when I went to lodge it!

This cant be strictly legal to pay a back week by post dated cheque for a week after you have ceased employment?

I have been told its not an employment law issue - I phoned up emmh NERA.

Really annoyed and their holding off on my fuel expenses! Any advice?

Not a huge amount you can do apart from pray it does not bounce when you cash it. Its not going to be worth going legal so all you can do is spread the word that they are not to be trusted.

I wouldnt have minded if they said things were tight and wait until Friday!! Yeah your right! Bad Karma to them - anyway have an interview fingers crossed with their competition!

    Thanks

Then your ability to punish them lies solely in your hands. MWOH HOH HOH HOH

Steal all their clients and when they come begging you for your job back crush them with your oversized hero boots.

If they gave you a post dated cheque that could be a good thing. It could have been as simple as the cash wasnt there till the relevant date. Would you like a cheque that could bounce?
