JSB being cut while doing a fas course, this normal?

    Hey guys iv been working part time since november and only finished up there yesterday as it was just for christmas. I started a fas course doing web design 3 weeks ago and i was told when i applied for the course that id still retain my JSB during the duration of the course. Now i turned down a full time job an all just so i could do this course and now im told my JSB is about to be stopped and i can apply for JSA if i choose to. Does this normally happen?

    Ya it happens to everyone,your prsi contributions are running out and now you have to apply for JSA and go for a means test.You should fill out the forms asap and send them back.

    Bummer i guess im going to have to stop this course, being means tested is gonna go against me. The course is in loughlinstown so getting there is a problem. But with no money they can hardly expect me to attend a full time course

    As far as Im aware once you JSB has run out and your waiting on your JSA you can get a supplementary welfare payment from your local community welfare officer.

    Is there any way to appeal of find out if im still intitled to JSB? I thought working part time would allow me to be on it longer just so i can finish this course.

    can't turn down work while on jsb don't tell them that

    I was on JSB since june 09, i was hoping to recieve back to education allowance in september when i go back to college. How long do you have to be on JSB before you can apply for BTEA? also if i move from JSB to JSA is it still considered one in the same in terms of applying for BTEA?

    Ok i handed in my application for JSA today, until it gets processed how soon can i get money off the reliving officer

    go to your nearest community welfare officer.. same thing happened to me a 4 or 5 weeks back, even workin part-time i was 2 credits short on my prsi to be able to stay on jsb, i went into my community welfare guy on a wednesday morning and received my first payment of them the following tuesday. still waitin to hear from a social welfare inspector to means test me for jba.
