i setup the new eircom roter today but am unable to connect to it.

    getting 'acquiring network address' message

all the correct lights are lit on router (internet, ethernet1 etc.)
light on pc network card is orange

i had the pc connected to a ps3 before this and it was working ok
i tried pinging the router with eircom tech support -no luck

Power the pc off then on, and disable then re-enable the network card. Power-cycle the router too. Try the ethernet cable the other way round. Make sure it is a 'normal' ethernet cable, not a cross-over one

Open a command prompt and type:
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

Might be too late now OP, but did you check the dhcp service was running? Was a gotcha for me before!
