    I need to replace a hard disk on a laptop, it's 2.5, 4200rpm 60GB ATA/IDE

I want to know, do I have to replace it with a HDD of the same rpm as I can only see HDD's with other rpm's
    also
the label on the HDD says ATA/IDE, I can only see SATA or IDE, At the moment I assume I can go for the one that says they are IDE

It's a hitachi HDD, from a toshiba satellite laptop, its old but was going strong until the HDD started making funny noises and was failing to boot up, since then it doesn't even do that

Looked on komplett, expansys and elara already couldn't see 4200rpm or the ata/IDE combination just SATA or IDE.

    Any help? :)

It'll be an IDE/PATA drive, so you can forget about anything labelled with SATA. You can buy any capacity/speed/manufacturer you wish.

Thanks for the quick response, had a good idea about it not being SATA,didnt want to get a 5400rpm in case I was wasting my cash

any idea wheres the best/cheapest place to buy, looked at komplett, elara and expansys (have use the first two for small bits and pieces)
prefer even to get it off an irish company online (so long as they are reliable) as some of the business sellers on ebay are a similar price to to and concerned it might not turn up or have a fault if it is second hand from ebay
