Lads, looking at this as a winter hack/side project.
Its a bit rough so what value would you put on it?
I think £350 is too much but it should hopefully sell for less.
Also is a 56cm frame too big for me? (I'm 5'9")
    Thanks! :)

EDIT: Seller tells me the wheels are Easton Circuit

You might fit on a 56 with a short stem. I think 5'9" is on the cusp of 54/56.

What size is your current bike?

edit: as far as price is concerned, £200 would be pushing it given that you can't inspect it in person. The ad says "Local pick-up only" and it's in Sheffield.

Current bike is a 53 which is a little small but is now ok after the bike fit (longer stem, raised saddle etc.)
I've been in contact with the seller and he might ship it across depending on sale price.

what you want is a nice frame you can put all the stuff you have lying around (and judging by the amount you try and sell here you have plenty :p) so you can build up as you wish.http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055815991

Nice looking DeRosa Merak frame here..

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190371195970&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Seller says that "the size is a sloping 52cm equivalent to a 56cm which would suit a rider from 5ft11 to 6ft2" but when I told him I'm 5'9" he said it would fit me perfectly as he's 5'11" and its too small for him

Supposed to be a very good frame but maybe a bit overpriced for an '05?

I'd go out to Humphries in finglas and pick up either an old steel of alum frame for 200-250 mark. Perfect for winter training. they have a good selection out there.

I spoke to humphries over the phone and they were suggesting paganini frames (fair enough) but he did say to come down and have a look at all their stock.
I'm just wondering if the ebay merak represents good vfm or not?

Personally, I would say a 5 year old frame for 500 sterling is not good value, especially if it's for a winter hack bike.
There's nothing special about it, it's an aluminium frame with carbon stays. The steerer is alum also! Frame weight is probably 1500-1600, fork is around 450-500g.

    from the listing:
The frame is in A1 condition - subjective nonsense that means actually nothing.
rear chain and seat stays are pure carbon fibre, So what? does that mean anything really?
This frame is a real beauty and is hand made in Italy by the finest craftsmen, ok, this is really making me laugh!

I'd still have a look at the second hand frames as mentioned in the shop above, wouldn't go near the new Paganini frames they have for a winter bike (not that there is anything inherently wrong with them). I remember steel Paganini frames from the 80s, and they were really nice.

The same 2005 frame here is $1495

On reflection I think the ebay frame is a bit big for me (5'9") if it equates to a standard 56cm frame.....phew!

    Paganini City! :)

I received an email from the ebay seller earlier tonight saying he will sell me the derosa frame for £499stg.
I know its an alloy and not (full) carbon but its a big saving on the original list price of £1400stg.
Any online reviews of the merak frame I can find are positive too.
Does anyone think its worth chasing at that price?
Would I get a better frame anywhere else for £499?
