I advise checking out tripadvisor for reviews.
To be honest I didn't like Tenerife- its perfect boozy holiday destination but food is awful on the island and I found it dearer then other canary islands but also found it quite rough- much worse than Gran Canaria.

I've been to Las Americas 5 times and always had a great Holiday. It's always roasting hot, even at night time. The nightlife is pretty good, Tramps is the main club in the resort, they'd usually have the likes of Dave Pearce and Judge Jules as regular DJs.. and you have a few disco bars etc.. good oul craic, having said that I believe it has gone very quiet in the last couple of years. The last time I was there was summer 08 and it had definately quietened down from previous years so don't know what it's like now.

As for food, if you go to the right places you will find nice food. The Royal Garden on the seafront near Hotel Sol Tenerife is lovely, I always eat there a few nights when I'm over, they do pretty much all types of cuisine. There are a few other steak houses dotted around the place aswel but can't think of the names of any off the top of my head, there's a big TGI style American diner aswel which do nice food and most of the restaurants are very reasonably priced.., avoid the Chinese Buffets like the plague, horrible food and I got food poisoning from them one year.. good times..

I know the Caribe, have never stayed in it but it's quite close to the beach and the nightlife, having spoken to people who've stayed there it sounds like a decent enough place..

As for trouble in the resort, I have never seen any fights or people being attacked, not saying it doesn't happen but I personally have never had any trouble there.. and have always stayed right in the centre of Veronicas.. maybe I've just been lucky..

    Hope that helps..
