Nightclub planning permission. What are the main requirments for the building and site location. Is there a restriction of Nightclubs allowed per town??. Licence costs?? What are the major neccesities to establish a nightclub???

    Any help greatly appreciated. :D

Nightclubs are quite complicated in terms of planning, fire safety, licensing. the planners do not favour them in town centers because of the disturbance large crowds of people cause leaving, the fire officers are generally very strict on them in relation to fire safety and you will need an annual dance licence which involves annual inspections and if you are in mayo( I am guessing based on your user name!!) you have one of the strictist fire authorities in the country. What is the existing use of the building you have or are you planning to build a brand new building? You will need very deep pockets as I doubt the banks will be too interested in lending for such a venture

Thanks for reply. I am planning a brand new build have suitable sites 2 miles from town centre so the town would not be plagued by customers after. The plan is for a nightclub that will have a fire cert for 2000 patrons. The club would be a type unseen in the west before. I have visited several clubs in London which no club in ireland comes close too. Customers deserve better for their money. Its a joke what are operating at the moment from ignorant staff, rubbish drinks, bad service, filthy clubs etc. I plan to change that. I have alot of experience in clubs bars etc. too. Am electrician by trade so alot of work will be done by myself and i would be familiar with fire safety to a certain extent. Feck it sure ill give it a shot!!

Well at a very rough guess you'll need a public area of at least 1000m² for 2000 patrons, 0.5 people per m² plus all seating ares. 1 person per m² plus bar area, service area & back of house areas you are talking between 1500 to 2000m² of a building which at a basic build cost of 1000 per m² will be between 1.5 and 2 million to start with.....

That will be interesting for sure. In Westport I presume? That will be no harm but the ONLY thing is the 2 mile distance as people are lazy! :)
Especially if you are to head 2 miles out of Westport in any direction it will be a hill and trying to get a taxi in Westport outside of the 11pm-3am on a Fri or Sat nite is hell! :)

Best of luck with it though.
