Pace Caps and swim hats

This might be a silly question, but here goes...
I had to buy a new swim hat today, as my old one got spirited away by the changing room goblins.
The ones on sale were all Speedo. I had the choice of a polyester cap, a silicone molded swim hat, or a pace cap.
Is there a technical difference between a swim hat and a "pace cap?" If os, what is it? Are they sufficiently better to be worth the extra money?
    Thanks!

I did the same - old one was worn out (I prefer the rubber-style ones rather than cloth) so I picked this up thinking it would be the same but it isn't, it still soaks up water like the old cloth ones even though it feels different

i really wouldnt bother with a pace cap, i have had much experience with swimming gear and have bought 1 pace cap and worn it exactly once! they dont stay on and are a pain in the neck! the best advice i can give you is to stick to the silicone i you dont want to get your hair soaking wet even though they might not be the most comfortable. if you dont mind your hair getting wet then the cloth cap is just as good as any. unless you are a competative swimmer the type of hat you use doesnt really matter it just comes down to personal preferance but i really wouldnt waste your money on a pace cap!!

This is what I use - it does what it says on the tin and I've never overheated in it. Free postage to Ireland, too.
