New portable audio player required

Let me start with an impossible request: what I really want is a brand new Rio Karma. But they don't make them any more.

I was looking at the Archos 3 Vision (8 GB). I was mainly attracted by the built-in FM transmitter. I've read so many bad reviews of the player since, though, that I've decided against it.

I should note that I have a prejudice, perhaps irrational, against iPods.

I am also planning to move away from Creative, since I also have a Creative Zen V 2 GB and it drives me absolutely mad.

    So my question is this:

Does anyone know of another reliable portable audio player with built-in FM transmitter?

I can't help unless you drop the FM transmitter requirement...

Ignoring that, if you could get a V1 Sansa Fuze which you can then Rockbox you'll have an audio player of comparable power to the wonderful rio karma

FM transmitters sound rubbish anyway, very noticeable degredation in quality.

The built-in transmitter is just to reduce cable clutter in the car. I'd be foolish to really insist on it!

I find that an FM transmitter is a great device when you lack any other means of input.

I'll go check out the Sansa Fuze, then! Cheers for the reply.

Ah, yes, that looks like a great player. Great reviews all round.

Does anyone happen to know whether it really will accept Micro SDHC cards, as opposed to the lower-capacity Micro SD? And if so, will it accept up to a 16 GB card?

    Yep, they'll work just fine.

The good old Rio Karma, such fond memories of that player! Have two of them with hard drive failures, sadly missed :( Still have a working 5GB Chroma though, nice little player.

It's probably a little cheaper online, but the sansa range are quite cheap to start with so for less hassle check out pc World, dixons, currys etc

With regards to memory cards, I bought my 16gb MicroSD on ebay, the seller was based in Ireland so I got my card the next day. ebay sellar
