GBB Rifle/locking bolt question

So I have a GBB 416, which is lovely. In testing so far, the bolt catch has locked back when the mag was empty (of BBs), meaning I had to hit the bolt release to, well, release the bolt. All very authentic and Gucci, of course.

This evening I installed an NPAS system for CO2 mags. All very well, works grand. Except, now the bolt catch no longer locks back. I've had a wee look at the workings of how it does things, and I'm wondering is there a knack to opening/closing the rifle that means the bolt release 'works'. This was the first time I even opened the rifle, so it could be I just didn't put it back together correctly.

    Any ideas?

I know it's an obvious thing to say - but did you try taking it down and putting it back together again? Is it the WE 416? I'm not sure about the 416 but I've found that on the SCAR the bolt lock works/doesn't work sort of on it's own whims. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else can point out a 'knack' to this that makes this more reliable.

I've the same problem on the M4 GBB (AGM) ... but that's entirely unrelated I'd say - think it's an AGM issue.

Yeah, it's the WE -- tbh I'd rather a more reliable way of getting it to work, since I've had to break it down a good few times adjusting the NPAS.

Good stuff - and if anyone has any ideas about the SCAR (or if it's the same issue as the 416) I'd appreciate pointers as well.

could you try somthing, pull the bolt back and pull the bolt back and manually pull the bolt release back and see if you can manualy look the bolt back

also have you tried firing on 134 as well as your new co2 mags, i know from experience that the increased viger of the co2 makes the bolt lock unreliable on the we, it is a common problem as the bolt lock uses gravity from what i've found its very light and will not fall into place fast enough, the magpul bad lever helps as its extra weight helps to reset the bolt catch faster each time

Cheers Puding - that manual bolt catch suggestion works for the SCAR. I'll see if your suggestion re: the bolt catch makes it more consistent. Problem solved now so I'll bow out - cheers gentlemen.

A little obvious, but have ya check the "dry fire" switch on the mag dave? its on the top where the bbs go in, it locks the follower and prevents it from tripping the bolt., bar that, feel free to bring it into me and i'll give it a once over for ya., :)

I can manually lock it back, yes. I do have to push in the lower part of the bolt release to get it to lock, though, which I'm not sure if I had to do before.

I'll try it this evening on green and 134a.

the fact you have to manually push the lower part would lead me to believe it is not resetting correctly, as with the other post it is why the BAD lever is actually useful with the we system it helps to do that with its weight, another thing to check is if all the components that make up the bolt lock is well lubricated and moving freely just some things to look out for that helped with mine

if you keep your finger on the lower part of the bolt release and fire some shots in semi you should find that it locks back fine
