Just wondering if anyone has gone up north for cheaper farming shopping.

I know machinery is definitety cheaper, tractors etc but is there any value to be got with other things such as maybe machinery parts, medicine, dosing for cattle./sheep/horses. plumbing equip.

if anyone has, could they share the experience with us.

yes i find most machinery parts cheaper up here, quite a good difference between main dealer prices, the weak sterling is a big factor in this too...

what difference does it make where you buy it. as long as you fill in your medincine reg that is all that should matter the dept. all details i.e. batch no. withdraawl dates etc will be on the box you buy

Before farmrite updated their site there had a message saying that animal medicines could only be supplied to the UK. Not sure if that is still the case?

They won't send medicines down south, they didn't last year either. Very quick and reasonably priced delivery as well.

i dont think the problem with medicines from the north is the dept. would say its customs. if so. the dept would no accept any such medicines on herd health registrar. would find your self in serious do da if your were caught

Due to Veterinary Medicines legislations they (Farmrite) are unable to supply animal medicines to Southern Ireland except for Closamectin pouron which at
present is the only product that has a dual licence - VAT has to be
    charged on animal medicine.
They are able to process orders for sundries and equipment going to
Southern Ireland without vat as long as they have been furnished with a
copy of your VAT registration form prior to the sale being processed.

so if i buy from them without sending a vat reg form, what vat rate do i pay
