    Hi!
Looking to book a cheap holiday for family to Portugal sometime in May. Need somewhere that is very child friendly as would be bringing a 6 month old child. Ideally somewhere self catering.

    Any recommendations?

Anywhere in the Algarve: Albufeira, Praia da Oura, Portimao, Lagos, Faro and less touristy areas in Moncarapacho and Tavira. If you want excellent villas with private pools in a quiet area then i'd suggest moncarapacho, straight off the A22. Have a look on villarenters.com and google earth. If you want a more busy, touristy area then Praia da Oura, Portimao or Lagos would be good Basically everywhere west of Faro is touristy and east is more quiet and less built-up.

true, but once u travel about 30 minutes west from Faro airport there are plenty of lovely villages which are not too built up, Benagil, Lagoa, Silves, Sagres, carrapateria

Hi Tim, I have houses that i have kitted out for families; stair gates, toys, high chairs, sterilisers - all the necessary stuff. my houses are around a gated courtyard with an adults pool and kids pool. you can see it on holidaylettings.co.uk/89835. i can do a good deal, but it's not bargain basement. it's very good quality and very good value.

I stayed in Lagos, lovely town but I found the see breeze (wind) was strong and cold.

    Hi,

my places are nowhere near Lagos, they're only 15 mins from the airport as opposed to around an hour for Lagos. it's around 5km inland from coast.

Hi Tim, we have traveled to Portugal three times in the last few years we have contact nos for agents in Cabanas de Tavira which is about 20kilometres west of the spanis coast in the south of portugal. Cabanas is a beautiful little fishing village which has been virtually untouched by time in the last 50 years. There is no crime no larger louts its just beautiful you access the beach by boat and a fab beach it is.
we fly ryanair usually get our flights for around €100 each. Last time we went we got our two bed apt for €350 for 10 days, a really good deal dont think you could do much better anywhere. The cost of basic goods there is really cheap,a pint of local lager in the bars is €2.50 in the most exepensive bars, in the local bars you can buy a bottle of local lager for 80 cent..... i kid u not!!!!!!!! Eating out can be a little hit and miss but there are some really good places can advise if you decide to give this place a go. you can look up the place on u tube. we are deffo going back later on this year.
i forgot to mention we have a contact no for a local taxi we get picked up at the airport and delivered to apartment for €40 its about half an hours drive. feel free to message me back if u want more info,
    Gina:)
