I have an STD, what now?

Okay, this is the story. I now know I have an STD. A few months ago I noticed a little bump under my pubic hair. It looked like a pimple so I didn't pay much attention to it to be honest.
But in the last few weeks a few more have popped up, and look slightly different.

After a bit of research I can safely say that it is most likely Molluscum Contagiosum. It's a problem, but it could be much worse I guess. Just grateful it's not Genital Warts which is what I first thought. I know I should have gone to a doctor immediately, but I didn't. And now I have to go away for two weeks on business, so I will go once I return.

Now, obviously the issue is that I can't be going around having sex with people until I get this sorted. And even though my sex life has been pretty barren of late*, I suddenly seem to have options, and I'm not sure how to handle it....I'm just putting people off, but it's weird.
My friends question why I am not trying girls on when we go out etc. I just tell them I'm not in that frame of mind right now, but I'm sure they wonder.
And what if I do meet a girl? What do I do/say? Or should I just avoid all interaction for now? The problem is it could take anywhere between a few weeks and a few years for it to be gone from the system. How do I handle this going forward? This isn't really stuff I can ask a doctor about anyway, so thought ye guys might help me.

*Just in case ye're wondering. I am pretty sure I know exactly where I caught this** and I have only had sex once since, and non of the symptoms had appeared at that point. I believe the disease does not get passed on without the symptoms being present.
**I was using a condom at the time.

Wat's the big deal about going to your doctor? Just go, get it sorted out and get back in the game. Not only that but these things left untreated can turn really nasty, you said yourself you noticed it spreading so that must be an incentive to get something done. I had something similar, it wasn't an std but i went straight to the doctor as soon as I noticed, he gave me antibiotics and it was gone in a week. I don't know what's stopping going to see your GP they've seen it all before so get over it and do something now.

Go to GP or STI clinic. They will test you and treat you so it could all be sorted in a very short space of time.

If you feel you can't go to your doctor (maybe he/she is a family friend or something) go to a different GP.

I missed the bit where you said you will be away for two weeks. You could see a doctor there ever you are going.

IF, and I stress that a lot, IF it is Molluscum Contagiosum and you can't make it to a doctors 'til 2 weeks I'd adopt the following extremities to avoid further infection.

    1. Change under garments everyday (goes without say really)
    2. Don't use any harsh soaping agents etc down there
    3. Carry a disinfectant hand gel with you for when you've used the toilet
    4. Maybe even buy a packet of 1st aid gloves at your local chemist

Just be cautious in case your suspicions are going to be made a reality. Also contact any and all sexual partners which you may think either gave you this or that you could have passes on to before you realised you had it.

You don't know it's not genital warts and you obviously arent too au fais with sexual health or you'd know that these don't have to be passed on sexually they're just like warts on your fingers. You need to to go to your GP whether you want to or not you have to get this treated and don't even think about sleeping with some poor girl until you get this sorted.

what makes you think that Molluscum Contagiosum is an STD??? do a bit more research and you will find that this infection mostly affects children!!!!

if it is MC, it could tkae up to 12 months to clear, so it's best to go to your doctor, although there isn't a lot he/she can do, just let it take it's course.

Diagnosis is best left to the medical profession anyway. It could be a number of things so you need to get to a GP or STI clinic asap and not sleep with anyone until whatever it is is 100% cleared up.

I think the Op is putting it down to an STD because of the area affected - He believes he contracted it during intercourse so that would class it as an STD.

go to your dr, or a dr while you are away, there are sti which you can contract even if you wear a condom.
