Is there too many shows in Ireland now?

I do be offered to put fighters on so many shows that i lose track and there so close to each other that its very hard to accomadate each 1.

Anyway we're at a cross roads here in my opinion and with so many shows on then im going to have to start supporting shows that are supporting my show and club and not bother with ones that are of no use to us and unsupportive, Its better for me to bring 3-4 fighters to 1 show when its a trek up north than 1 at a time to 3-4 different shows.

This is not an attack on any promotions but a chance for open discussion to see how we can start to fix the situation, or am i wrong and everything is great and lets carry on in this way, as it is i think everyone is going to suffer, Please discuss without getting personal or nasty..

    Thanks

Not enough Pro fighters too fill so many shows and Paul I get exactly where you are coming from.

I'd rather see any money made going back into the clubs to buy gear and help support pay the coaches who get very little for the hours they put into the sport.

For example we have about 6 or 7 fighters in our club. I'd love to be able to send them to the likes of yourself or mark leonard and will do in future. Just hasn't worked out that we could yet due to having sent ones to other shows or our own being on.

We are definately at a pivotal point as far as the sport goes I think

I defo agree with you man. Is this another reason to have a governing body? so we can hav a proper fixture list drawin up in december for the forthcoming year. But I think there might be too many people wanting to be the Cheif, so it might not happen. As i said before I was In contact with Irish sports council about this, but it seems they look upon MMA as a cave man sport.

Brought this up last year and I guess my points/questions are still valid. There is also a few new Shows popping up regularly who require a lot of fighters.

How big is MMA in Ireland becoming?
MMA really seems to have taken off in this country. From reading here there is at least 6 events coming up before the end of the year

Rumble in Rush, Fight before Christmas, Tribal warfare, Chaos, 2 in August (cant remember at the moment , EFR are doing one and that 8 man tournie), not to mention the MMA league
And thats not including ROT/Cot which will surely be happening again soon.

My question is this: Do we have a big enough pool of active fighters to accommodate what seems like a busy schedule? Is it the same fighters most of the time or is there foreign teams/fighters competing as well as Irish? How big can this get?

Although it seems to be working well with lots of new guys arriving on the scene and coming up through the ranks.

Is the fan base there to support all this?

    Intrested to hear some views

I think its wise to see the difference between club shows and promotions,

As in boxing, clubs will always run shows to get their own fighters a run out and the experience they need to move forward and to let guys use the skills that they train in.

The aim of larger promotions is to make the sport bigger and more popular with the viewing public at large. These promoters invest alot of time and money into what they do. To do this they need the clubs and coaches onboard.

Fighters should have better chances of good press and exposure (possibly media and TV coverage)on the bigger shows. This in turn may lead to bigger fights on the back of these promotions.

    Just my few cents!!
