Refs ensuring uncontested scrums are uncontested.

Was at a game yesterday where the scrums began uncontested.
I noticed from the beginning of the second half that one of the teams began pushing in the scrum on their own ball.
Despite complaints from the opposition the ref refused to do anything about it.
With about 20 minutes to go another scrum was pushed when one of the props went down.
Ref again continued on without penalty.
The prop was substituted because of what looked like a neck injury.

I was astonished that the ref was acting so irresponsibly with regards the safety of the players. Seems to me one team had props the other didnt and the ref failed to protect the ones that didnt.

Its my first year up in Leinster but previously in Munster if one team began pushing theyd be penalised immediately.

Anyone seen anything like this around the leagues?

By any chance had that team used their quota of subs at that stage??

I hate giving out about refs they do a thankless job but this guy was horrendous.

Giving a penalty try without giving a penalty first or a warning.

Listening to every thing the home team said

missing forward passes a quarter back in nfl would have been proud of

not sending a guy off for a cowardly stamp in the guts of our player lying stuck at a bottom of a ruck no where near the ball

Holy smuck - this doesn't sound good. The uncontested scrum thing is very serious. If you are 100% correct with your facts there I would suggest an official from your club contact the branch.

    Saftey always comes first.

    He's under no obligation to.

The contested scrum thing is serious though.

Sorry I wanted to know if they had no props at all or did their starting and sub props get injured during the game.

Castie is a center and was propping and we had a russian guy playing only his second competitive match so we didnt have props.

With just two trainings a week and lots of new players very difficult to get lads up to scratch on propping.

    Its also j 5 level.

Im not a fan of uncontested scrums but safety first.

Might I add ex Center thats converting to prop, not just in there for the extra man. Im 17st at this point :).

Told story from third person to avoid a "blah blah RFC giving out about the ref".
    Didnt mean to discieve.
