    Hi,

I recently dropped out of college because I hated the course I was doing. Fully intend on going back next year to do something I actually enjoy. I have been looking for a job but I can't even seem to get an interview

Would be great if someone could let me know my entitlements(If any) for Dole

    Some info:

    Im 20
I've made enough PRSI contributions to claim
I live at home with parents

Am I entitled to anything based on the info above?

So we "The taxpayer" are expected to pay you to stay at home with your parents just because you didn't like the course? Get some backbone and get out and do something with your life.

Normally I'd agree with this sentiment, but since he has made enough PRSI contributions, why shouldn't he claim?

Alex, Everyone can make the mistake of picking the wrong course, is there any point of going on with something you will despise and regret doing for the rest of your life?

I've literally searched everywhere I can think of for jobs and still I've heard nothing. The dole que is the last place I wanted to end up bit if I want to go to college next year I need some sort of income to pay the fees

I've worked for 4 years and have more than enough PRSI contributions. Why shouldn't I claim?

If you have paid PRSI then you can claim it back. Depends how much you have paid.

You should be eligible for Jobseekers Benefit which, not being means tested will not be affected by the fact that you are living with your parents. The amount you'll get/length of time you'll get it for will depend on your previous earnings/PRSI contributions. Jobseekers Benefit payments were not subject to the reduced payments for younger claimants in last two Budgets - those only applied to Jobseekers Allowance payments.

Thanks for the replies, think I might qualify

Just one more thing. Who do I contact to get my exact PRSI contribution figures? Local tax office?
