Designer Beards

What is it with the designer beards, seems every twobit joker is running about with these "fashion accessories".

Now a quick back history on the beard. Most beards were grown because men could not be bovvered shaving, now these designer things are a massive contradiction. The dedicated followers of fashion now spend more time tending to these things than they would in shaving the whole lot off.

Goatee or van dyke... as worn by David brent.
I think that says it all.

    But wait there's more...

hates them designer ones completely. You dont decide what a beard looks like ya just leave it grow and run wild and free. Luke kelly had a whopper beard.

Beards are for catching the blood from the raw meat you eat dribbling down your chin.

Being tanned used to be looked upon as a way to identify someone from the lower classes, because it meant to had to work outdoors. Eventually, it became to be seen that it meant you didn't have to work, and could afford to sit outside and tan. The cultural perception of all theses things changes over time.

So your effectively saying anyone with a beard couldnt be bothered shaving? Were do you get you information on the history of the beard?

I like beards :( Was growing over the last two weeks, got fairly thick. Shaved it yesterday, too many people whinged about.. wish I hadn't :(

Was at Birmingham Town Hall the other week, The Dubliners are playing there Paddy's Day; picked up a leaflet, had a picture of every member, past and present - it was like a beard catalogue. Spent half of last weeks lessons drawing them :o

You feel a little naked now don't you! It sucks!

I really hate shaving with a proper razor, so I just use a beard trimmer myself! :) Generally keep a bit of facial hair so that I don't look stupid! haha.

i for one welcome our designer beard overlords and have joined them

Blick mens stubble and hair for that matter tends to be a bit tatty. No offence indended but their beards don't seem to have the same consistency of a caucasion.

I'm not a fan of the "designer" beard. If I grow a beard it's usually a full natural look one, not heavily sculpted or anything like that.

i bet when ya shave the full beard off you always go into the main room in the house and sit down pretending you didnt notice you forgot half the beard, just to make people laugh. Then you go off and do the hitler tash for more giggles.

Or is that just me :D

I can't even grow chest hair, a beard would be a bit ambitious. Though Ive always thought girls liked it. I know a lot of perfectly pretty girls who like bald heads and beards/ moustaches - bizarre imo.

please, please don't say bovvered unless you're doing catherine tate:(

I know right. It's utterly stupid. We should all be made wear uniforms and have our heads shaved and a clean shaven face. Women don't need to get their heads shaved but they need to have their hair tied into a bun. Nobody is allowed free thought either. We should all be part of a collective mind that is controlled by a High Command or something. That way nobody would be able to complain about anything, and life would be more satisfactory for everyone.
