Airport Extreme + Netopia

I was almost going to sell my previous gen AEBS so that I could get a dual band wireless router. I have 802.11n on my MacBook, but my iPhone supports the lesser standards of course. So I'm stuck with 2.4GHz n (b/g compatible). I always see a noticeable difference on the MacBook running 5Ghz n.

So, to accommodate my MacBook and iPhone, I was going to get a dual band wifi sender.

But, I just remembered I have an older netopia wifi box sitting around gathering dust.

How can I plug the netopia wifi in to either my Aolynk router or my AEBS to create a second wifi b/g network and leave the AEBS to run full N for my MacBook?

Not sure of how I should set it up, so your help would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Alan.

Is your Netopia box also a DSL modem? - just use it instead of the Aolynk.

I have a single-band AEBS, and have it connected to a wi-fi modem (Thomson) and it all works fine - set the AEBS to bridge mode, and allow the Netopia to issue the IP addresses (DHCP).

Thanks for that. I'll give that a go in the morning. On a smart line which is adsl2 I think. Not sure if that is an issue. But if it is I can make netopia a bridge too.

I'm on Smart too - it's ADSL2+ (also called "G.992.5 annex A" in modem settings).
