    Hi Op!

I`m afraid there is no such thing as over the counter anxiety medication. You really should see your doc although since you are posting here you must have a reason not to, if your embarrased don`t be they see this all the time, everyone suffers anxiety at some point.

Now what you can do right now is go to youtube and type in "guided meditation" and pick one and do it, this is my personal saviour. You can also go to health food stores as they have natural anti-anxiety things - although I do advise you google whatever you get and read up and also tell someone else your taking it in case you have a reaction.

Lets look at why your anxious, can you tell me why? is it related to some particular thing or a fear of the unknown? is there something you watched, read, saw or thought that sparked this anxiety?

Limerickgal you really shoudl head to a doctor if you haven't already. Diagnosing yourself is not the best idea. The reason I say this is because there might well be an easily treatable medical cause - it could be a symptom of something underlying. For example thyroid issues can cause anxiety and nervousness.

Best thing is to get the once over from a doc an ask his/her advice about the options. As a rule internet forums are terrible places to get advice on medications

another good idea is to make a diet plan of healthy foods, and do some exercise. Avoid alcohol, sugar, caffeine, fast-food, skipping meals.. you might as well try a healthy lifestyle before you start filling your body with OTC remedies - there's no such thing as a miracle cure

What about simple rescue remey thats available in health shops? You can take it when you are in situations where you feel particularly anxious. Although things like this aren't a solution, you need to get to the root of the problem by talking to someone.

limerickgal89 if you're suffering from anxiety to the point its affecting your life you need to see a medical professional. Any advice you get over the internet is no substitute for that(though in fairness the posters here gave good advice similar to above).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
