In light of the "first 4 minutes" thread I thought this might be a good idea. :D

I'm terribly weak myself and know way too much already. All my attempts to avoid spoilers have ended in failure. :( I'd love to go back to that genuine feeling of surprise I had in response to everything in the first season - before the Lost ship started leaking all over the place. Maybe I'll find the strength for the final run of episodes. ;)

But speak up, who has resisted all spoilers so far? With only 4 days to go until the premiere, do you think you'll be able to hold out? Did you read spoilers in previous seasons? Did it affect your enjoyment?

Spoiler free here. Look at it this way...why be confused now for 4 minutes when you will have all those weeks of confusion to look forward to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 383 ✭✭fullback4glin

I've no idea what's gonna happen in this season. It's been the same for me from the very start. Were the spoilers you heard about previous seasons true? I've heard a lot of ****e which never happened like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭CDH

I've kept completely spoiler free for this new season so far, but last season I constantly read spoiler sites and it did take away some of the suprises and did affect my enjoyment a little but I was still suprised by some things.

I do remember reading this utterly ridiculous one in season 4 that said Ben was going to go into an underground cavern and move the island using a frozen donkey wheel that was... oh wait.

Yep, they were all pretty accurate. :D In fact, the belief that the writers or ABC are somehow planting foilers all over the net is pretty dangerous with a show like Lost. Lots of people read the above spoiler thinking it was fake which I think must have had a very negative impact on their reaction to the episode.

The only spoilers i had was about
    Faradays
death in S5. under a promo of an episode.. was absolutely gutted.
The spoiler bit is for anyone who hasn't watched previous seasons.. don't want people to have the same experience :(

I've seen the first 2 mins clip and can't wait for the new season now.

What do people consider spoilers? Would an episode title and character centric be considered a spoiler? or a promo for the next episode?

Personally i enjoy finding out about centrics but some of the promos show a bit too much like He's our you last season

One question for Sad Professor, Does S6 sound good from the spoilers you've read?

Yeah all those things are spoilers. Although I would differentiate between official and unofficial spoilers. Official would be promos, episode titles, interviews, etc. Stuff that you could quite easily come across anywhere without any warning. Unofficial is filming reports, leaks, synopsises, etc, stuff the TPTB don't want to get out.

Episode synopsises are evil things altogether - the worst type of spoiler, I never read them.

It's hard to say. Spoilers tell you nothing about the drama and execution. How it happens is far more important than what happens imo. What I've read is very fragmented. It sounds exciting though. But as always expect confusion and controversy aplenty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

ha thats a good enough answer for me... well i look at the title and centric of the next episode all the time... sometimes the promo. thats about it really.

you should really try and stay strong for the last few episodes. Do the spoilers ruin the show slightly for you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

I tend to shy away from forums when coming up to the finale, there are always some leaked spoilers. In fact I remember it happened here (can't remember which season) which thankfully I missed.

I don't understand why anyone would want to watch the first 4 minutes of the new season!

I'm spoiler free and it's just gotten a lot harder, apparently the first hour was shown in Hawaii last night and it's found its way onto the internet. Flippers on Facebook are bleating on about the episode, I haven't seen it yet you selfish bastards! :(

I'm used to them so not so much anymore. There's usually still enough surprises in the episodes. Depends though. Knowing big twists in advance isn't good.

Once the show is back I'll find it easier to avoid spoilers. Definitely won't be reading anything about the finale. I'll have exams around that anyway so likely won't have time. :D

Yeah, I knew this would happen. Apparently it's a handheld and the sound is meant to terrible. I think I'll wait for the 720p version thank you very much. :D

Everyone should resist reading any summary as well - evil I tell ya. :p

I think for this season I'm going to try even harder and wait until the Thursday when RTE show it, or Friday when Sky show it. I'm sick of watching the episodes in bad quality on the interwebz. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

I know what I heard in comic con which is my 1 luxury I allow myself every year as I always enjoy watching it. Other then that, I don't know anything. Honestly, I have never found it hard to avoid spoilers. The only major reveal I knew was Michael returning and well everyone knew that.
Just avoid all the lost sites and only read episode threads. Always served me well. I have no idea why anyone would even want to click on any spoiler. I find it much easier to avoid then to go and look it up.

I am also absolutely convinced that watching the ABC promos is totally counter-productive. It only raises your expectations to an unreasonable level. The amount of times I heard "it was good, but I expected more after seeing the promo" You're going to watch it anyway. Why spoil it?

But, come the week up until the final episode. I am going into total lock-down. I am reading nothing lost related and once I have it downloaded. I will instantly log off for the day and avoid all tv and the internet. God help anyone who even dares hint at it, I will go all Sayid on them. Nothing is going to ruin it for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

I am 100% spoiler free and hope to stay that way until the episode airs. I may have posted that link to tempt others but I never actually watched it :D

I am staying clear of any spoiler threads or any sites with hints.I actually think this is the first season of Lost I havn't read anything about before watching.

The live streams are horrendous, but the hd tv rips are excellent quality. Having to endure the ads on RTE/Sky would kill me tbh.

Yeah, "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" is a good example of an episode getting overhyped due to promos. The promo destroyed the biggest twist of the episode. The people who watched it knowing nothing liked it much better.

One thing I'm definitely avoiding this season is the sneak peaks. They were grand in earlier seasons when there would only be 1 or 2 of them. But last year ABC was sometimes releasing 4/5 of them for each episode. It meant that you sat down to watch the episode having already seen practically 10 minutes of it.

I'm gonna try my damndest to stay spoiler free this season... I'm mostly spoiler free except for a bit of information on the cast list for the season... Every other season I was a spoiler junkie, but I've been doing better this year in general to avoid spoilers for any shows, so maybe I'll be alright...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭uncleoswald

I'm going to try and stay away from spoilers as much as possible. I haven't really been tempted to watch the spoiler video on the other thread and I know I probably would have last season. I haven't really even read THIS thread in full in case someone spills something inadvertently or on purpose. I've enjoyed finding out whats coming up in the past but I now know I'll enjoy it more the less I know.

I'll actually hope to stay away from this forum all together from now on just in case. I'll miss the speculating but its not worth the risk. I don't even want to know the pre synapsis of the each episode this year.

I've not read anything about Lost since the end of season 5. I know nothing about what's coming.

I will say... I'm actually in danger of peeing myself with excitement about its return!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,339 ✭✭✭me-skywalker

Ive seen teh 4min clip and theres nothing much ado for the entire season to spoil and ive also seen the Locke, Ben and Ricahard scene at the Statue and thers not much to go on there either.

Other than that I agree with Sad Prof the synopsis are awful! also tv promo's the day after a show has jsut aired really p8ss me off. That has to be the biggest tease EVER!!
lost is set inside a snowglobe on Gods mantlepiece ;-)

I don't know why people check out the spoilers. It's like opening your presents before Christmas Day. :)

I hope to stay spoiler free and I can't believe the new series is upon us.

Usually I'm stressed out to the mex waiting for the new season to start however the last 9 months have flown in for some strange reason! It's probably because I wasn't too shocked by the end of the Season 5 finale, whereas I've found the others to be literally jaw dropping moments.

lol. Stopping kidding around, guys, or you're gonna scare the spoiler-free people away - which would kinda defeat the whole point of this thread. :D

Yep, I've always stayed spoiler-free for every show I watch. I just don't understand why anyone would do it any other way. The way I figure, all you're going to do is ruin the big plot twists for yourself and sure that's more than half the fun. :P

Going on a Lost spoiler blackout for the next 3 days. Dont want to see a thing. I'm even gonna stay away from the red top newspapers just in case they decide to write anything about the leaked first hour. See you on the other side people. Hopefully much to discuss on Wed night.

yup watched the 4mins thing but avoiding all "unofficial" spoilers have to say finding it very difficult indeed

I have stayed away from the spolier sites though I have been on to Lostpedia and other sites for non-spolier news about the show.

It's been a long wait since May so no point ruining that by viewing the 4 minute clip of season 6 before it airs. I'm so excited now, only 2 days to go!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,339 ✭✭✭me-skywalker

i apologise but it had to be done :p

its like the soaps the way in the papers and the gossip rags that the females get that tells you exactly what happens in each episode... why bother watching it. just read a book ffs lollity!

I'm going double spoiler free as I'm waiting the extra day for them to ship me my high-def copies so have to avoid this forum for another 24 hours each week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭lalalalinda

I'm spoiler free aswel :) Don't see the attraction of spoilers to be honest. I've unfortunatly read a few minor spoilers on here by accident (don't understand how people don't stop to think that MAYBE there's some people watching on RTE or some people who don't read comic con spoilers!!) Thankfully, I've been lucky in that they weren't major spoilers.

For you and others if you know where to look you can get 1080p quality online around 2 hours after the show airs in america. So thats at around 7 am wednesday morning.

Earlier even. I had the first episodes at about 4am last week. Pretty sure there was a 1080p option but I don't see any problem with 720p.

I didn't see any either. 720p is plenty for me though.

I stay completely away from anything to do with Lost. I wont even discuss it with Friends. Someone blurted out that (its from early in season 3 i think)
    they get off the island
    - pissing off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭Psychedelic

I was just on YouTube and one of the Lost related channels I'm subscribed to has posted a video of the crew filming the actual finale. Needless to say I didn't watch it and I have unsubscribed. Just a word of warning to people who want to avoid spoilers to be careful on YouTube, even the 'suggested videos' feature might show spoilers.

Anyway, in light of this and the several spoiler threads on this forum, it looks like major spoilers are being leaked now. I'm sure most of us want to avoid spoilers, we've invested 5 years in this show and don't want the final payoff ruined.

A suggestion to the Mods, I wonder could series finale spoilers be banned from this forum? Or at the very least, all spoilers for upcoming episodes should be kept in the one thread only (there's a few spoiler threads at the moment).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Everyone who wants to post a spoiler should just do so in the Info about upcoming Lost episodes [** MAJOR SPOILERS **] thread. It'd be horrible to roll the mouse over a thread title and the first post with the spoiler appears. Maybe if the thread mentioned could be stickied or just let people know thats where to post them.

I'd absolutely hate to be given a major spoiler (things like centrics, titles and podcasts are fine for me) especially in the last season.
