2nd Hand Car prices

Has anyone any realistic guidelines for second hand car prices? I was looking at getting a 05 06 diesel car and was willing to pay cash but the dealers in my mind were asking way too much. I was looking at getting a Mondeo or a Vectra for example and some dealers are looking for €7000 + which seems high to me considering the current climate. I reckoned (perhaps naively) that €5000 cash would go get you a really good deal.

    Anyone any similar experiences?

ask for a percentage off price - like 10% or 15%? - rather than €5000 for a car valued at €7000.

Thanks for that. I'll try that. I just thought that cash would really get you an excellent deal.
