    Lads/Lassies

    Any help appreciated

I have a Garmin 305 Edge, and can't get cadence or speed to read,I have reset the sensor, checked the magnets and I'm getting the red and green LEDs when the magnets pass on both the crank and wheel. I have re-scanned on numerous occasions but the device is just showing 4 lines for cadence.I have changed the battery,I have checked the device with my sons bike and it does shows speed and cadence when mounted on his bike.I have also mounted his device on my bike and that also does not show cadence/speed.

Finally I did a master reset but no success.Device is less than 1 month old and did not get wet or damaged. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

@Kerryscoob. I have the same issue with cadence sensor.
I have a sensor on two different bikes - all set up with correct aligmnet (lines matching).
Green light works when pedal and magnet/wheel pass.
But the Garmin 305 does not pick up the cadence.
I have made sure that the sensor (in the settings menu) is set to pick up signals. But to no avail.

Despite the many fans of the Garmin, I have come to the conclusion that despite the info provided by the device, that the hardware it is carried on is a piece of sh1te.
Under no circumstances would I recommend one.
When I find a suitable replacemnt, my 2 Garmins will be going in the bin.

You say that the 305 shows cadence and speed when connected to your son's bike.
This means that the Garmin is working so any issues will be at the cadence unit end.
The cadence units use the ANT technology which means that each device has a unique ID, similar to the MAC address used by network cards.
If your 305 is reading your sons bike then it is set to his cadence unit and will not read anyother unit told to re-scan. Which you have tried on several occasions.
What I have noticed on the 305 is that it does not tell you if it has found several units during a scan, something the 705 does.
So try and re-scan with your son's bike at least 50m away. Also may be worth leaving the heart rate strap.
If still no joy try and re-scan your sons garmin to pick up your cadence unit. After that et onto the Garmin in the UK.
I have had to return 3 cadence units during the Warranty period. Their warranty service is excellent, they will usually send out a unit without you sending the faulty unit back first.
My warranty returns were caused by water getting in the through the small hole under the rubber section.

    Lads for replies.

Freddy spotted the small hole, the bike has been on the road 3 times with the Garmin and every time it has been dry,but I can see it's a possible source. But I will remove and dry with a blow dryer later today.

Will contact Garmin Monday, website support is poor though.

ROK I haven't given up yet,but I have purchased another bike which will need a second sensor so I'm wary.

Even though when I pressed the reset I was getting the red/green lights I changed the battery on the cadence unit, and it worked.

All worked yesterday, speed cadence the whole shooting gallery:D.

Fecking thing died again after 1 run with new battery, dying I suppose is incorrect the sensor would flash away but the garmin wasn't picking up the signal.

Rang Garmin UK today, no questions asked, their sending out a new cadence sensor, was told to chuck the old one in the bin.
