prices of extraction versus fillings

Just wondering - what are the price differences between getting a tooth extracted and getting it filled.
do dentists offer the choice - saying like this will cost 100 to extract or 150 to fill ?
I've heard awful stories about root canals costing hundreds and massive bills , and am just wondering if you are better off (if you can't afford that kind of costs) to say just extract the tooth once and for all and be finished with it.

Yes you are right. A straight forward 'easy' extraction costs about the same as a small filling. A more difficult extraction may cost 2 or 3 times that.

And when the tooth is gone you are finished with it. Should you decide later that you have made the wrong decision you can always have the tooth replaced with a new plastic one.

Got an extraction done today (tooth was not for saving) Cost me €140 all in all, included x ray + extraction.

Dentist said I had very long twisted roots (was a molar) so it was harder then normal to remove.

I'm happy anyway. Beats having toothaches.
