Seeking advice on a new PMP

    Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a PMP and I'm far from experienced in shopping for them. I've googled a few reviews of models that caught my eye but I think I'm best off asking people in the know for advice on who to buy from and what type of player would suit my specs. Here's the kind of thing I'm after -

    - I want a fair bit of memory as I have more than a fair bit of music that I'd want to have with me; in excess of 32gig and nearer 64gig would be great but the only thing limiting my memory-wants is the sharp ramp-up in price beyond <10gig. Which leads me to my next point,

    - Drag and drop functionality is really important - no players that require annoying extra programs that I'd have to load my albums into, just copypaste to the player's HDD.

    - Good value for memory and sound quality; I don't want to spend E200 on a player just because it has some novelty half-megapixel camera tacked on or other useless features. I want a lot of memory and decent sound quality; being able to have my music on hand is essential, I'm not the kind of music enthusiast who will go into raptures over my newest .flac rips.

    - Size is fairly important, nothing miniscule but functional is definitely a key word. I don't want a mini-jukebox that gives me a dead leg if I sit with it in my pocket. I usually listen to music when travelling and when on the move on my own, so something compact and easy to handle would be great.

If anyone can help out with some info I'd be very grateful, be it just a reccomendation for a specific site or an exact model or manufacturer that suits what I'm after, cheers

The "Cowon s9" 32 gb is drag and drop, small, gets great reviews for sound, and good feedback on this forum to boot.More details and description in link.

I would have said S9 too, it's worryngly light and it's sound quality is excellent and it's EQ presets are nifty if you're into that. Great support for different file types too. The AMOLED screen is top notch for video. Only drawback is its interface, which is a bit frustrating in places.

I would also highly recommend the S9, great player. Mine stopped working though a couple of weeks ago so off for repair, I miss it :( I am using the iPod Touch at the moment and I must say I have grown fond of it, still prefer the S9 though in terms of sound quality.

    Apple iPod classic.

If you open iTunes, you can drag songs from a folder directly to the iPod icon in itunes and it will copy the tunes across, without first having to load them into iTunes. At least it will on a mac so I imagine that would work on windows as well.

For €75 less than the price of an S9 you get 130 GB more storage.

Another vote for the S9 here. Best sound quality out there.

Alternatively, if you can stand a horrible interface, Archos do plenty of high-capacity spinning drive players.

    Cowon D2+ 16gb & 16gb sd card
S9 has a nicer screen but the D2+ has a more powerful headphone output

Sansa Clip+ or Fuze. Both take memory cards and have great sound.
