Well I couldn't really call any games influential... I can't say I've ever had the urge to jump on top of a turtle's head and kick it's shell into a block hoping it would produce a large mushroom which would turn me into a giant, but the games I mainly grew up playing are...

C64 - Turrican & 2, Flimbo's Quest, Creatures 2, International Soccer, Midnight Resistance, Arkanoid & Revenge of Doh, Metrocross, Pitstop 2, Shinobi, SEUCK (not sure if you can call it a game though)

Arcade - P-47, Street Fighter 2, Final Fight, Robocop 2, Blood Bros, Outzone, Sunset Riders, Shinobi, Wrestlefest, Terminator 2

Megadrive - Sonic & 2, Mega Bomberman, Revenge of Shinobi, Street Fighter 2, Thunderforce 4, Strider, Streets of Rage & 2, Desert & Jungle Strike, Gunstar Heroes,

    NES (even though I didn't own one!) Super Mario Bros & 2 & 3, Megaman 2,

SNES (even though again I didn't own one) Super Mario World, Super Probotector, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, International Superstar Soccer

    PC GTA & 2 & 3 & Vice City & San Andreas, Worms, Warcraft 2 & 3, Starcraft, Deus Ex,

My interpretation of this is the games and systems I had growing up and the one's I played the most and were kind of the games that introduced me to those systems. I didn't really have stuff like the Super Nintendo until the last 2 years so I wasn't going to put it down but then I thought I should.

[Can't remember with any degree of accuracy what we had for the ZX Spectrum so I will skip it.]

b]Master System[/b Alex the Kidd in Miracle World
b]Mega Drive[/b Sonic the Hedgehog, Road Rash II, WWF Royal Rumble, World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, X-Men, Streets of Rage II, Cool Spot, Jurassic Park, FIFA International to FIFA 97, Taz-Mania, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, the Flintstones
    [Mega CD] Road Avenger
    [Tiger Electronics] Batman
[PC] Commando's, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Dungeon Keeper, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, Quake, Civilisation II, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat
[Playstation] Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3, Tomb Raider 2, Final Fantasy 7, Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, FIFA 98: Road to the World Cup, International Superstar Soccer Pro, Soviet Strike, Jade Cocoon, Hard Edge, FIFA 99 (until I destroyed the disc in a fit of rage), Medal of Honor, Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter Ex Plus Alpha]
    [Nintendo 64] Goldeneye, Zelda 64
    [Dreamcast] Resident Evil Code: Veronica
[Playstation 2] Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, WipEout Fusion, Pro Evolution Soccer 3, Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Armored Core 3, Cold Winter, Killswitch, Conflict Desert Storm II, Resident Evil Outbreak I & II, Resident Evil 4, Secret Weapons Over Normandy, Silent Hill 2, Tomb Raider: Anniversary

I'm also going to do this a 'growing up with videogames' type of thing. Titles I had on release or rented a lot when they were new. If I just picked games I liked for all consoles I'd be here all day. :D

ZX Spectrum - Barbarian, Punchy, Platoon, Batman

Nes - Megaman 2, Super Mario bros 1-3, Faxandu, Low G Man, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Gremlins, Robocop 2, Probotector

Sega Megadrive - Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, S&k, Castle of Illusion, Quack Shot, The Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe 1&2, Super Thunder Blade, Alien Storm, Strider, Alisa Dragoon, Desert/Jungle/Urban strike, Robocop Versus the Terminator, Micro Machines, Battle of the Ballz (God I hated that game), Judge Dredd, Mortal Kombat 2, Dune 2: Battle for Arakkis, Theme Park, Streets of Rage 1-3, Road Rash II, Mercs, Cool Spot, Thunderforce 4, Ghouls n' Ghosts, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier,

Snes - Zelda:A Link to the Past, Super Double Dragon, Street Fighter 2, Super Mario World, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, Starwing, Dirty Challanger, Rushing Beat

Playstation - Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider 1-3, The Raiden Project, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII & VIII, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain & Soul Reaver, Final Doom, Resident Evil 2, Rollcage, Silent Hill, Time Crisis & Project Titan, Air Combat, Destruction Derby 1 & 2, Syndicate Wars, Soviet Strike, G-Darius, Tombi!, Vib Ribbon, Wipeout, Wipeout 2097, Gran Turismo

n64 - Zelda OOT, Lylat Wars, Diddy Kong Racing, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark

Arcade: Metal Slug 1,2,3,X, Puzzle Bobble, Moonwalker, Raiden, Aliens Versus Predator, Tokyo Wars, Super Thunder Blade, After Burner, Off Road, Oparation Wolf, Time Crisis 1 & 2, Silent Scope, those light gun type games that had a rifle mounted to a counter and 'real 'targets that you'd shoot down. Electronic Roulette machines in Dawsons. There was a trick to them where you'd win a lot more reguarly than you'd lose. Great for getting more money for the cabinets.

...okay that's as much as I can do in work at the moment. More to follow!

Is Tombi as good as everyone says? I'd love to play it especially as a massive Gn'G fan.

I would imagine you'd enjoy it alright. The only problem is because it didn't sell very well, it costs a bomb on ebay. (It was one game I was silly enough to trade in..probably for some really common muck too)

Bumping this thrad cause it looks interseting..... I'd like to see follow up posts :)

Oisin, with Tombi you say it costs a bomb on fleabay because it didn't sell well but does that not mean that there would've been laods of spare copies lying around a factory somewhere?

For such a small game from a small developer unless the initial shipment sells out quickly usually another shipment isn't manufactured. It's what happened to Tombi. The first shipment of the game was probably only a few thousand copies and when they eventually did sell out another one wasn't manufactured since there wasn't a market for it. Now that world has got out that it's a cracker demand for the small amount of copies has driven the price up very high.

It was a shame it didn't sell well. I imagine it didn't sell well because more mature adventure games like Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider were released, from big companys as well.

I owned Tombi! But I misplaced it when I moved home. So I bought it on eBay three weeks ago for €62 (I had the money lying around :D) so it should bring back some happy memories.

    Wow
Surely there'd be a much cheaper way to play it what with modern technology and all that?
