I'm usign a hauppauge usb dvb-s device and a hauppauge analogue device.
Both are recognised by media center.
However my guide data does not show for channel 4 & 5 until I click on the no data epg listing. Then it appears.

Other obscure channels such as true movies get no listing.

Film 4 only gets a few hours worth of listings.
Any idea on what is wrong.

Also how often does the guide data update itself?

    thanks in advance

Media Center doesn't seem to pair every channel with the proper guide listings on installation. So you need to edit the listings assigned to some channels manually.

You can do this through the edit channels settings in media center itself. There is a shareware app called GuideTool which makes it a bit easier. See here: http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool/screenshots
    Give that a try.

Some channels will have listings from more than one provider. I have found that sometimes selecting the freesat astra 28.2 gives the proper listings and sometimes selecting the sky provider gives the correct listings.

Sometimes neither does though and I haven't figured out why yet. For me, I have all of the main channels with their full listings (14 day listing, incidentally as opposed to the 7 day which is what people say Freesat EPG is supposed to provide) apart from ITV4+1, CBS Action and perhaps some of the other Zone/CBS channels, and some of the film channels (like True Movies, but really I don't care about them enough to have spent time trying to figure out why). Film4 and Film4+1 both have full listings though.

BTW, channel 4 and 5 won't be the same for everyone, as the channel numbers are arbitrary/customisable in media center (unless you are talking about C4 and five?).

as PyeContinental has said, you wont get full listings for all channels. a lot will just give now and next.

if you want to populate the remaining channels with guide data, you will need a few things and it takes a bit of setting up to do...

Big screen EPG, to load xml guide listings into 7MC
    http://bigscreenglobal.com/

digiguide for listings (28 day free trial)
    http://www.digiguide.com/

and xmtlv to get the listings from digiguide into big screen epg
    http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

it takes a bit of setting up and a small subscription fee to digiguide, but i have full epg listings in 7mc.

thanks for both of the replys.

Got most to work by channel listing - and reselecting - what sometimes appears to be the same channel.
Have removed the 'true movies' type channels as I wont be watching them.
UTV and ITV+1 are those that remain now and next only. I have ITV1 fully listed which is almost identical to UTV.

I have done the digiguide xmltv route before with sagetv but as the media center data is pretty much tere I'll probably stick with that.

This is my first foray into media center since an aborted start many years ago. It is is mighty impressive - especially the picture displays when browsing up and coming movies.

    cheers.

That's because Media Center doesn't display the full length of the listing provider. GuideTool shows you the full listing name so you can distinguish between them.

As far as I remember, I found the listings for UTV under listing name "Ulster". I'll have to check that for you later though.

Did you mean ITV4+1 when you said ITV+1? That's the only one I haven't found working listings for yet.

Cheers. If anyone knows what's up with ITV4+1 listings, let us know! (haven't tried that xml method yet, but don't want to have to pay anything for it! :) )

If you haven't got Men & Motors, here's how to tune that in manually and add the listings for it.
