Looking for some advice [Mods feel free to move to the relevant category if necessary]

It's my godson's Christening on Sunday so I want to open an account for him today in either Bank of Ireland or AIB. As I am not a blood relative of him, how do I go about opening the account or has anybody got any suggestions on ways to do this.
As iv left this pretty late to do, it would be hard for me to see his parents today, so just wondering if there is a way I can open the account without having his parents there? Or is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to have them there?

    Any suggestions appreciated!

I imagine the best way would be to open up a joint account in both of your names.

It's not just something you can do over the phone. These days there's money laundering legislation requirements etc.

Best thing is to go into the Bank and ask them.
